Distinguished Alumni Award: Micha Herbst

Briar Cliff University announces the recipient of the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award - Micha Lally Herbst (’97).
The Distinguished Alumni Award is presented each year to a Briar Cliff alumnus who lives a life reflective of our Catholic, Franciscan values; excels in professional activities reflecting skills taught at Briar Cliff; and demonstrates personal commitment to Briar Cliff in the form of hours, generosity, or ideas.
Herbst earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in human resource management with a minor in Spanish from Briar Cliff University. Currently, she serves as senior corporate human resources process consultant for Progressive Insurance.
Herbst’s volunteerism in the community is notable, including serving as the Board President for the Ronald McDonald House; career panel and fair project team for Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools; project leader for the Multicultural Leadership Development Program – Alumni of Inclusion; founder and past board member of Parent Connection Employee Resource Group; contributor to the Hispanic Sourcing of Excellence Team; facilitator for the Speakers Bureau; a coordinator of Brad Pautsch Fundraiser; and adjunct professor for Briar Cliff University, Morningside University, and Wayne State College.
Since graduation, Herbst has continued her involvement with Briar Cliff through various career panels and supporting athletic events. Most recently, she served as a Sister Muriel Ford Mentor and panelist. She regularly attends and contributes to the support of athletic programs, and volunteered for The 1930 career preparation panel and mock interview sessions.
Herbst’s husband, Patrick (’96), is also a graduate of Briar Cliff University as well as their oldest daughter, Brooke McGlauflin (’16).
