Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) |
The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) Organization at Briar Cliff University was created to support instructional personnel in their continued development as excellent teachers and scholars in order to improve the learning community/environment for students.
CELT defines excellence as effectiveness, engagement and use of evidence-based practices for ongoing improvement of teaching and learning. Our learning and teaching community includes anyone who is engaged with our students in an instructional context. This includes faculty, advisors, administrators, and staff. We work with these employees to:
- Facilitate discussion about learning-centered education and best pedagogical practice
- Provide space and resources for the campus to engage in joyful and purposeful community
- Inspire continued innovation in professional growth and service.
The vision of CELT is to make Briar Cliff a hub for faculty development and student success.

Briar Cliff University provides an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for employees. This program offers qualified counselors to help you cope with personal problems you may be facing. Also, the mental, physical, and spiritual expert resources on campus are not just available to our students, they are available to our employees as well.
