Briar Cliff’s Ethan Erdman Awarded GPAC SID of the Year

Briar Cliff’s Sports Information Director, Ethan Erdman, was named Great Plains Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. Erdman received the 2022-23 Dave Rebstock SID of the Year presented by Hauff Mid-America Sports.
Erdman, an alumnus from Briar Cliff took over as the full-time Sports Information Director in October of 2021. He previously served as a graduate assistant in the same department.
“I’m proud of Ethan for being recognized in this capacity; the Briar Cliff Community is grateful for his hard work and dedication to Charger Athletics,” said Kelly Boe, Interim Executive Athletic Director. “He’s only continued to elevate his work, and I’m excited about his future growth.”
Erdman serves as the primary contact for all varsity sports at Briar Cliff. His responsibilities include social media, gameday video stream, statistics, press releases, and video board graphics.
Highlights during the last academic year included participation in the first-ever collegiate baseball game on the Field of Dreams Movie site when Briar Cliff took on Luther College. Briar Cliff also claimed GPAC Championships in women’s basketball and women’s golf.
"Ethan has emerged onto the scene as an up-and-coming athletic communications specialist," said GPAC Commissioner Corey Westra. "Briar Cliff is well respected for their gameday coverage and promotion of their student-athletes. He is also well respected by his peers and is very deserving of receiving "The Rebby" for his accomplishments at BCU."
Erdman will be the GPAC nominee for the NAIA Sports Information Director of the Year. Erdman was recently elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Communications this past summer. He graduated from Briar Cliff with a bachelor’s degree in business in 2019 before receiving a master’s in sports management in the spring of 2022.
