Briar Cliff recognized three first-year students who have been awarded the Bishop’s Scholarship award. The award is given to graduating high school seniors who belong to a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Sioux City. The recipients are Trey Jungers, Chelsey Bieret, and Molly Borman.
Jungers chose Briar Cliff after a positive experience during his visit. “I chose Briar Cliff because it felt like home away from home,” says Jungers. “I am interested in participating in the men’s faith group, and the ENACTUS group, if possible.” Jungers intends to major in finance and accounting and will be a member of the men’s basketball team. “I am looking forward to building relationships that will last me a lifetime and surrounding myself with ambitious, like-minded individuals who also wish to grow their Catholic faith.” Trey is the son of Chris and Dick Jungers.
Bieret chose to attend Briar Cliff after visiting campus and experiencing the caring and helpful community. “My faith is also important to me, so I know attending Briar Cliff will help me grow and learn even more about my faith,” says Bieret. “I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter in life. I’m also looking forward to growing in my faith and seeing where my future leads me!” Chelsey is the daughter of Kevin and Sheri Bieret.
Bormann intends to study nursing at Briar Cliff. “I am a very passionate nursing student so I will join nursing clubs and faith-based organizations,” says Bormann. With the demanding schedule of a nursing major, Bormann is thankful of the small faith-based community and support at Briar Cliff. “I feel that it is important to keep strengthening my relationship with God and going to Briar Cliff will help me on my journey.” Molly is the daughter of Patrick and Juliana Borman.
Applicants must hold a 3.0 GPA, along with completing a series of essay questions and a letter of support from their parish pastor.
