2020 Presidential Scholars

Briar Cliff University is proud to announce the incoming Presidential Scholars: Alex Mammen, Stella Bothman, Annie Lord, and Breanna Gill.
Mammen comes to Briar Cliff from Bishop Garrigan High School in Algona, IA. He plans to pursue a degree in computer science and education.
“Briar Cliff will undoubtedly give me an incomparable opportunity to improve as a student, friend, athlete, Christian and most importantly an all-around person,” Mammen says.
Bothman comes to Briar Cliff from Cleveland High School in Happy Valley, OR. She plans to study biology.
“I will need teachers and peers who want the best for me and my education, and I believe Briar Cliff has a campus culture that cultivates success, motivation and academic excellence,” Bothman says.
Lord comes to Briar Cliff from Heelan High School. She is currently undecided but is interested in history, psychology and education.
“I could tell the professors were determined to help every individual student thrive. I want to attend Briar Cliff because of the university’s faith, social and academic opportunities,” Lord says.
Gill comes to Briar Cliff from Jackson, NE after attending Ponca Public School. She plans to study biology.
“On my visit to Briar Cliff, I got to meet several people ranging from students to faculty to staff who all had a great sense of pride and excitement towards their school, and it made me feel proud with them,” Gill says.
To be eligible for the Presidential Scholarship, an incoming college freshman must have a 3.75 or above GPA and minimum 26 ACT or 1240 ACT score. Mammen, Bothman, Lord and Gill were chosen from 24 applicants and will receive full tuition to Briar Cliff beginning this fall.
