Alverno Hall
Alverno Hall houses both men and women across a variation of all grade levels.
Each room houses a maximum of two residents. They come fully furnished with a dresser, closet, bed, and desk for each student. Lofts are available for rent. Each floor of Alverno is divided into two wings with the center of every floor having a lounge, kitchen, and laundry room. A $4.5 million renovation was completed at the end of the Fall 2023 semester. The renovation included new flooring, paint, furniture, and fixtures in the rooms as well as improvements to the hallways, bathrooms, and lounges.
The first floor of Alverno houses the Vista Lounge where workout equipment is available to students. The ground floor houses the Student Health and Counseling Service Centers, an Athletic Training Room, as well as a few athletic program offices. Alverno is without a doubt the most centralized option for living on campus.

Countless Memories
Built in 1965, Alverno has had many renovations since, such as updates to the lounges and a beautiful mural of its namesake, Mount Alverno, in the lobby. Mount Alverno, aka La Verna, is where St. Francis was believed to receive the stigmata. La Verna became an important pilgrimage site for Franciscans and followers of Saint Francis and a large monastery developed.
Students enjoy Alverno because of its central location on campus. Connected with the Stark Student Center, students have easy access to Clifftop Eats, Admissions, the Mailroom, the Sharon & Larry Walsh Wellness Center, and much more. There is also access to the Briar Cliff underground tunnel system that leads to Heelan Hall, the Bishop Mueller Library, and Chapel of Our Lady of Grace without ever stepping outside. This is perfect for those brisk Iowa winters.
