Hosts Annual WINGS Conference

250 young women from across the Siouxland area schools will be attending the annual WINGS Conference on March 6th at Briar Cliff University. WINGS is an annual conference that encourages 8th-grader females in Siouxland to take classes and pursue careers in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).

The opening remarks will start at 9:15 a.m. in the St. Francis Center on Briar Cliff’s campus. Stella Daskalakis, the weeknight evening KTIV News 4 anchor and award-winning and Emmy-nominated broadcast journalist will serve as emcee for the day.

From 10 a.m. to 11:40 a.m., attendees will go to a series of interactive career sessions conducted by women with STEM backgrounds.

Stacey Snyder will deliver the WINGS keynote address back in the St. Francis Center at 1:15 p.m. Snyder recently returned from an expedition to Antarctica with National Geographic and Lindblad Expeditions. She has also been a recipient of STEM Teacher of the Year and Gold Star Teacher in Cedar Valley.

The WINGS Conference is sponsored by Briar Cliff University, Morningside College, St. Luke’s College-UnityPoint Health, Western Iowa Tech Community College, Siouxland District Health and CF Industries.
