Briar Cliff University and Oakview Group Host Business & Media Career Day at Tyson Events Center

More than 140 high school students from around Siouxland gathered at the Tyson Events Center for Business & Media Career Day, hosted by Oakview Group (the management company that runs the Tyson Events Center) and Briar Cliff University. This presented high school students with an exclusive opportunity to explore careers in accounting, marketing, public relations, operations & event management, graphic design, finance, and more. The event provided students with real-world insights into the diverse opportunities within these business career areas. 

Oak View Group professionals had sessions covering key areas of the industry, including partnerships and marketing, operations, finance, public relations, and leadership. Students gained a behind-the-scenes look at how professionals manage and promote major events, work with corporate partners, and develop effective marketing strategies.

Our entire team enjoyed speaking to the students, and we hope they enjoyed their time looking at what a career in sports & entertainment looks like," said Nick Palmiotti of Oak View Group. "The kids were engaged, asked great questions, and seemed to enjoy their time with us!" 

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to engage with industry professionals, ask insightful questions, and learn about the essential skills needed to succeed in business and media. The event concluded with a discussion on leadership and management, highlighting the importance of adaptability, communication, and strategic thinking.

Several dozen students continued their day at Briar Cliff University, where they enjoyed lunch at Clifftop Eats and toured campus. The visit allowed them to explore the university’s academic programs and learn how Briar Cliff prepares students for careers in business, marketing, finance, and media communications.
