Briar Cliff University’s Media Communications program was ranked 17 in the nation by the Bachelor’s Degree Center. The Bachelor’s Degree Center is an organization focused on helping students find education programs best suited for them by assessing financial and educational aspects of colleges and universities paired with individual needs of students.

To create these rankings, the Bachelor’s Degree Center researched on-campus digital communications programs from accredited, reputable institutions. Using data from IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System) and Niche (an online database with profiles and reviews of schools across America), the Bachelor’s Degree Center ranked the best Digital Communications programs in the nation.

Michael Crowley, the chair of the department at Briar Cliff, expressed that the award is a great reflection for everyone involved with the program.

“I am very pleased for our alumni, our faculty - present and previous - and our current students,” Crowley said. “We have received this recognition because we are doing what we say we do here.”

The Bachelor’s Degree Center listed access to industry standard technology and software, excellent courses and faculty members who work in the industry they teach as attributes making Briar Cliff’s Media Communications program one of the top in the country.

“As much as we work really hard here, we also have fun. It is great that you can see a balance between those things and people recognize you for your hard work,” senior Julie Knowles said.

Crowley credited everyone from coaches of athletic programs to President, Dr. Rachelle Karstens in contributing to Briar Cliff’s national ranking.
