Briar Cliff Board of Trustees Name Stouffer Board Chair and Bertrand Vice Chair

Briar Cliff University’s Board of Trustees name Steve Stouffer as the new Chair and Lisa Bertrand as Vice Chair.
“Their strategic vision, compassionate steward-based leadership, and growth mindset have been a valuable addition,” said Patrick Jacobson-Schulte, Briar Cliff University Interim President. “We appreciate their leadership and ongoing commitment to Briar Cliff University.”
Stouffer came to Siouxland from his hometown in Kaneville, IL, and began his career with IBP, Inc. in 1982 where he served in many different roles, to include sales, commodity pricing, margin optimization, product development, strategic planning as well as various executive leadership positions. In 2013, he became the President of Tyson Fresh Meats, Dakota Dunes, SD, and led the organization until his retirement on March 1, 2022.
Since 1996, Stouffer has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Board for the Boys and Girls Home and Family Services. He’s been involved in supporting United Way of Siouxland and has had past commitments as a member of the Board of Directors and Executive Board of the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University.
Bertrand is Deputy General Counsel at Great West Casualty Company and an adjunct English instructor at Briar Cliff University as well as a certified yoga instructor. Previously, she served as Corporate Counsel at Tyson Foods, Inc., for over thirteen years. She started her legal career in Sioux City as an Associate Attorney with the Heidman Law Firm.
In addition, Bertrand has served as a Civil Service Commissioner for the City of Sioux City since 2015. Past commitments include serving as a board member for the United Way of Siouxland, Women Aware of Siouxland, and Siouxland Habitat for Humanity. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from the University of Central Missouri and her Juris Doctorate (JD) from Drake University.
