Erin R. Neldeberg graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio in 2002 with an Associate Degree in Applied Science of Nursing. Her first position as an RN was at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, in high-risk antepartum and postpartum care. Upon relocating back to Cincinnati in 2003, Erin gained clinical experience as a Bone Marrow Transplant nurse at Jewish Hospital, and a postpartum nurse at Mercy Hospital-Fairfield, before discovering her love for Labor and Delivery Nursing at Christ Hospital. During this time, Erin also pursued and completed her Bachelor of Science of Nursing degree through Indiana Wesleyan University in 2007.
In 2008, Erin moved to Sioux City, Iowa and accepted a position as nursing faculty at Western Iowa Tech Community College. Upon acceptance of that position, Erin began her own academic journey once more, and obtained her Master of Science of Nursing degree, with a focus on Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2011. Her Master’s Thesis was entitled Moving Towards Health in the Student and Instructor Relationship, and focused on the impact of incivility on student success.
Erin had the privilege to serve as nursing faculty, teaching in various courses within the PN and ADN programs, at WITCC from 2008 through May 2020. At that time, Erin felt a calling to go in to full-time ministry and served as the Music Director and College Director at Sunnybrook Community Church from 2020-2022.
Since 2022, Erin has been at Briar Cliff University in the undergraduate nursing program teaching Concepts for Intermediate Nursing Practice II, Concepts for Complex Nursing Practice, and Evidence Based Nursing Practice. Erin also serves at Her Health Women’s Center as a STI Health Educator. She speaks to middle school and high school students in the Sioux City area about STI’s, self-worth, and healthy decision- making during that stage of development. Erin is also a member of the Iowa Nurses Association, Iowa League of Nursing, and American Nurses Association.
Erin has a heart to serve and love people where they are at. This has taken many forms over the course of her life. She loves the mission field, whether that is caring and serving a local family in need, or serving the community through local churches, or participating in international mission work. She has had the privilege of traveling to Ukraine and Mexico to serve alongside mission workers, and support them and their ministries, in those areas of the world. Through those experiences she has developed life-long friendships and a love for mission work.
Erin’s heart to serve and love people has largely taken form in her passion for her students and for nursing education. Walking alongside such gifted, smart and unique individuals as they work towards achieving their academic goal to become a nurse, is one of her life joys. Being able to encourage and grow the next generation of holistic nurses, with life-long learner and world-changer mind-sets, is an honor that Erin feels blessed to be a part of.
