All nursing graduates and their guests are encouraged to join us in St. Francis for our annual pinning ceremony as a special way to honor our newest nursing graduates.

The pinning ceremony is Briar Cliff University's way of symbolically welcoming our newly graduated baccalaureate nurses, nurse practitioners, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice into the profession, and honoring RN-BSN graduates as they advance their education. In the ceremony, the graduates are presented with a nursing pin by the BCU Nursing Faculty or a loved one chosen by the graduate. During the service, our Nursing faculty will place the graduate hood over the heads of our Masters and Doctorate level graduates. All nursing graduates will then wear this additional academic attire (regalia) as they walk in the full commencement ceremony.
