Assistant Football Coach 

The assistant men’s basketball coach is responsible for assisting in the direction of all phases of a nationally Assists Head Coach in all aspects of coaching, including defense, special teams, and recruiting.  Additionally, this position will mentor student-athletes in the areas of academics, athletics, and personal development. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: 

Coaching Responsibilities:

  • Assistant Coach on defense and special teams:
  1. With the assistance of the Head Coach, implements the defensive and/or special teams’ philosophy.
  2. With the assistance of the Head Coach, schedules and organizes practices for
    the defense and/or special teams.
  3. With the assistance of the Head Coach, oversees defensive and/or special teams’ practices and oversees all coaches on defense and/or special teams.
  4. Establishes job descriptions for all coaches on defense and/or special teams.
  5.  With the assistance of the Head Coach, establishes game plans for each game
  6. Assists the Head Coach with summer football camps
  7. Evaluates game films and personnel each week
  • Recruiting:
  1. Assists the recruiting coordinator in recruiting football players
  2. Recruits a designated area and is on campus to talk to his/her recruits
  3.  Works with admissions to develop a good rapport
  • Maintenance of football equipment:

Work with equipment manager to make sure equipment is safe, clean, and
That inventory is taken at the end of the year

  • Laundry facilities:

Work with equipment manager to make sure player’s laundry is washed daily, and that game jerseys and pants are washed each week

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor's degree required
  2. Extensive experience in the sport of football at the high school or collegiate level.
  3. Knowledge of and adherence to NAIA policies and regulations.
  4. Demonstrated experience as an effective recruiter.
  5. Experience with social media is preferred. 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
