Head Coach - Competitive Dance and Competitive Cheer

SUMMARY: 

The Head Dance and Cheer Coach oversees all aspects of the university's Dance and Cheer programs, both on and off the competition court. This role involves mentoring student-athletes, providing academic guidance, and fostering personal development. The coach is responsible for recruitment, budget management, scheduling, and ensuring compliance with GPAC and NAIA regulations. Additionally, they create a supportive and safe environment conducive to academic, athletic and personal growth.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit student-athletes to fulfill roster and recruitment objectives.
  • Manage and monitor the allocated budget in accordance with university guidelines.
  • Schedule inter-collegiate competitions/meets within NAIA, conference, and college policies.
  • Teach and ensure adherence to GPAC and NAIA policies and eligibility regulations, effectively communicating them to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate pre-game and game arrangements, including equipment needs, travel, facilities, and personnel.
  • Develop and implement practice schedules within university policies.
  • Instruct, advise, mentor and coach the team during meets, practices, conditioning, office hours promoting respect and upholding the university's values.
  • Serve as a representative to promote the Dance and Cheer programs as well as the Briar Cliff University Athletic Department and the NAIA Champions of Character initiative.
  • Assist with fundraising and general sports promotion efforts.
  • Participate in university committees as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in collegiate coaching.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Extensive experience in competitive Dance and Cheer
  • Knowledge of and adherence to NAIA policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrated success as a recruiter, preferably within a 300-mile radius of BCU.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervise and lead Assistant Dance/Cheer Coaches, carrying out responsibilities per organizational policies and laws.
