Work-Study

Work-Study provides eligible students the opportunity to earn extra financial aid to help better afford their educational expenses. Briar Cliff offers a wide variety of part-time work-study positions on campus. Students can get experience in retail, customer service, event management, and even professional internships both on and off campus.

Awards are based on calculated need, as determined by information provided on the FAFSA

What is Federal Work-Study?

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. Eligibility for work-study is based upon each individual’s FASFA. Contact the Financial Support Services to see if you are eligible and learn what jobs are available.

How much can I earn?

Your total work-study award depends on when you apply, your level of financial need, and Briar Cliff University's award level. Students generally work between 5-10 hours per week to earn work study awards, which range from $500 to $3,000 per academic year. You’ll earn at least the current federal minimum wage. However, you may earn more depending on the type of work and the skills required for the position.

How will I be paid?

On-campus work-study positions are paid by the hour every other week. Students will need to log their work hours into Charger STABLE, a self-service platform for pay, billing, tax information, and more. Hours are approved by the work-study supervisor before being accredited to the student's account.

When will I work?

The best thing about work-study - it works around your schedule! Providing students the flexibility to earn money while living on campus by remaining on campus, you can expect all work study hours to accommodate your existing academic schedule and any other commitments (athletics, clubs, other jobs, and so on.) While some positions are more flexible than others, plan to work with your supervisor to coordinate your hours so they can develop a schedule that works for you.
