Health and Wellness Office
The Health and Wellness Office at Briar Cliff has a licensed nursing staff, as well as a licensed counselor for students. The office provides basic health services at no cost to our students. However, there are minimal charges for laboratory testing, TB screenings and immunizations. No appointments necessary!
During college, students are encouraged to become proactive with the management of their own health, nutrition, personal and mental development, and overall wellness. The office seeks to assist and educate students with regard to their individual health issues and questions, and in developing healthy lifestyles that lead to success. Students needing health and wellness treatment or advice are encouraged to visit the office and walk-in, while students seeking to talk with a counselor are encouraged to set an appointment to maximize confidentiality.
Counseling services are free and available to all Briar Cliff students. Please make an appointment by stopping in, or you can call or email the counselor any time with questions or concerns. The campus counselor is a licensed and Certified Mental Health and Addictions Counselor and works with many life issues: alcohol or drug use/abuse, eating disorders, relationship issues, sexual abuse, stress and anxiety. Appointments are scheduled around your class schedule for your convenience.
All students carrying nine or more credit hours on the Briar Cliff University campus are required to carry health insurance. Coverage may be through the student’s parents or through insurance students carry on their own. Policy information is requested during the validation process and is maintained as a part of the student’s university record.
