Choral director selected to present at national, regional conferences
HONOLOULU, Hawaii — Dr. Sean Burton, associate professor of music, The Gilchrist Foundation Director of Choral Activities and division chair of arts and humanities, recently was selected by peer-review to present “French Connections: Exploring the Unaccompanied Choral Music of Pierre Villette” at the Hawaii International Conference on Arts and Humanities.
He was also selected to present “Enhancing Departmental Curricula Through Choral Music” with Dr. Matthew Ferrell of St. Cloud State University and Dr. Andrew Robinette of South Dakota State University at the College Music Society’s Great Lakes Regional Conference in Fargo, N.D.
Recently, Burton also led the Reading Session for Two-Year and Four-Year Colleges/Universities with Stephen Boehlke of the Minnesota Valley Men’s Chorale and Rita Stinner of Western Nebraska Community College at the North Central Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Des Moines. Dr. Burton’s scholarship on “Mercy and Truth Are Met” by Ned Rorem and “Psalms” by Lukas Foss was published in the most recent monograph of the American Choral Directors Association – Music of the Americas.
