Briar Cliff University Welcomes New Staff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University is pleased to announce these new staff members to the BCU community:

Bell, Ryan

Ryan Bell, advisor, Talent Search, holds a bachelor’s degree from University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.  Previously, Bell was a student teacher at Hunt Elementary and West High School in Sioux City.

Corey, Adam

Adam Cory, admissions counselor, holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. Prior to Briar Cliff, Cory held retail sales and customer service positions in Sioux City.

Evans, Kelsey

Kelsey Evans, admissions counselor, graduated in May from Briar Cliff, where she earned a bachelor’s degree and was a standout on the Charger women’s basketball team. 

Gierach, Mark

Mark Gierach, director, education technology, holds a master’s degree from Capella University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Previously, Gierach was an instructional designer for the University of South Dakota and lectured at South Dakota State University.

Irlbeck, Ben

Ben Irlbeck, head coach, men’s and women’s golf, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Dakota Wesleyan (DWU), Mitchell, S.D. Most recently, Irlbeck coached basketball at Marion and Harrisburg, S.D. Previously, he was an assistant golf coach at DWU.

McCormick, Jessie

Jessica McCormick, coordinator, Student Retention Services, holds a master’s degree from Hollins University, Roanoke, Va., and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.  Previously, McCormick was the director of Upward Bound at BCU.

Morgan, Carla Jo

Carla Jo Morgan, director, Health Services, holds a bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff University. Prior to BCU, Morgan was a registered nurse (RN) in the radiation oncology clinic at June E. Nylan Cancer Center, Sioux City. Previously, she worked in ICU at Alegent Health Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha. In addition to her role at BCU, she is a part-time RN case manager for Iowa Hospice.

Rhodes, Justin

Justin Rhodes, assistant director, Multicultural and International Programs, holds a bachelor’s degree from Briar Cliff. Prior to BCU, Rhodes was a representative at Stream Global Services/SiriusXM, Sergeant Bluff, Iowa. Previously, he supervised and tutored children at Beyond the Bell, Sioux City, and was a peer counselor and assistant activities director at Upward Bound, Sioux City, Rhodes.

Schirman, Trevor

Trevor Schirman, head coach, women’s volleyball, earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California (UC)-Los Angeles. Most recently, Schirman was an assistant volleyball coach at UC-San Diego and head coach for the Epic Volleyball Club in the San Diego area. He is a former member of the U.S. National Volleyball Team.

Taylor, Nick

Nick Taylor, assistant football coach, defensive coordinator, holds a master’s degree from U.S. Sports Academy and a bachelor’s degree from Sterling College, Sterling, Kan. Previously, Taylor was interim head coach, assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kan.
