The Briar Cliff University Singers and Chamber Choir will perform “Majesty,” a spring choral concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Grace United Methodist Church, 1735 Morningside Ave, Sioux City.

Also performing at this free public event will be two distinguished guest choirs, Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) Concert Choir, under the direction of BCU alumnus and WITCC Director of Choral Activities William Darwin, Jr., and the Abu Bekr Chanters, under the direction of Dr. Sean Burton, division chair of arts and humanities, The Gilchrist Foundation director of choral activities and associate professor of music at Briar Cliff University.

The concert will feature a variety of uplifting majestic repertoire and will highlight BCU’s Chamber Choir and WITCC’s Concert Choir together performing Ralph Vaughan Williams’ exquisite Five Mystical Songs, a musical setting of poetry by George Herbert, with Dr. Burton, conductor, and Mr. Darwin, baritone soloist, accompanied by the Orchestra Pro Cantores, a chamber orchestra comprised of local professional musicians.

BCU student conductors John Krager and Molly Tullis will conduct a piece with the BCU Chamber Choir, resulting from their work in advanced conducting courses at BCU.

This event is made possible through funding from The Gilchrist Foundation.
