Award-Winning Novelist to Speak at Briar Cliff

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Department of English and Writing at Briar Cliff University will host a reading by award-winning author Mary Ann Stefaniak, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, in Meis Recital Hall on campus.

At the event, Stefaniak will read from her most recent novel The Cailiffs of Baghdad, Georgia, winner of the Anisfield-Wolf Award for Fiction and named an IndieNext “Great Read.” A professor at Creighton University, Omaha, Neb., and a faculty mentor in the MFA program at Pacific University, Forest Grove, Ore., she is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, University of Iowa, Iowa City.

Author of The Turk and My Mother and Self Storage and Other Stories, Stefaniak also serves as contributing editor for Cerise Press international online journal and writes a monthly column for The Iowa Source.
