Kelsey Evans and Mattie Murren each earned first team All-Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) accolades as this year's all-conference teams were released today. Sara Reeves was named to the league's second unit, while Kela Cihak earned honorable mention all-GPAC honors.
Evans, who was a second team all-league choice last season, has led the team in scoring all-season long and is third in the conference with a per game average of 14.0 ppg. Evans also leads the team with 41 blocked shots and is second with 75 assists and 4.4 rpg. The senior from Willmar, Minn. clipped the 1,000-point career mark earlier this season.
Murren, a sophomore from Wahoo, Neb. who was the league's freshman of the year a season ago, jumped from honorable mention honors to first team status. Murren, a staple in the Charger starting five, is averaging 11.9 ppg and is the team's top shooter from the outside with 63 triples. Murren also checks in third on the squad in both assists (59) and steals (58).
Reeves, a senior from Weston, Neb., averages 11.8 ppg and shoots a team-best 50.0 percent from the floor. She also leads the Blue and Gold defense with 64 steals. Earlier in the season, Reeves was pegged as the GPAC Player of the Week when she went off for 31 points, this season's high, against Northwestern.
Kela Cihak nailed an honorable mention spot after receiving a second-team honors a year ago. The senior from Avon, S.D., has been a permanent fixture on the court for the Blue and Gold. This season, she averaged 8.9 ppg and nailed her 1,000-career point in the Chargers' final regular season game. Cihak led the Chargers in distribution all season long, finishing the year with 96 assists. Cihak was second on the team with 60 steals.
