TRACK & FIELD: Cockerill champions another record performance

Tara Cockerill continues to be the headliner for the Briar Cliff track and field squad; she is the top thrower in the conference and in the nation. Cockerill finished first and set a new Briar Cliff record, facility record and meet record with a distance of 15.03 meters on Saturday at the Dordt Invitational.
Steph Rohe finished third and improved on her provisional time for nationals in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.70. As a team, the Chargers captured 5 top 10 finishes.
Both Bryce Harshman and Raheem Cowan registered first place finishes for the Cliff. Harshman set a new school and meet record with a jump of 7.12 meters and finished first for the Blue and Gold in the long jump. Cowan, the number one triple jumper in the NAIA, blew away the competition as well as the meet and school records in the triple jump with a distance of 15.55. Cory Hollamon finished third in the triple jump and stamped his ticket to nationals with a distance of 14.18, while the men's 4X400 team ran a season best and finished in third with a time of 3:25.50.
