TRACK & FIELD: Cockerill rewrites record books; Cowan NAIA's top triple jumper
Tara Cockerill won the shot put at Buena Vista's Dennis Young Classic with a throw of 14.04 meters. Her toss was also good enough to be a new school, meet and facility record. Meanwhile, Steph Rohe finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.90 seconds, .02 off of her provisional qualifying time. As a team, the Charger women notched 10 top 10 finishes.
On the men's side, Raheem Cowan is now the top triple jumper in the conference and in the nation by over a foot. Cowan set a new school, meet and facility record with a leap of 15.54 mETERS. Cowan also finished third in the long jump with a personal best 6.89 meters. Cory Hollamon placed second in the triple jump after soaring 13.97 meters and is .03 off of provisionally qualifying for nationals, while Bryce Harshman was second in the long jump (6.93m). Clay Pagels tied his own school record by clearing 2.05 meters in the high jump. He tied for first, but lost a jump off and therefore placed second. As a team, the the Charger men posted 17 top 10 finishes.
